Homeowner Association (HOA)

What an HOA is

Most APCHA units are part of a Homeowner Association (HOA). HOAs have their own governing documents, policies and rules and collect monthly or quarterly assessments/dues from homeowners to cover the cost of maintaining common areas and other shared costs in a complex. HOAs may also levy special assessments for out of the ordinary projects. HOA Boards consist of homeowners who have been nominated and elected by their fellow homeowners. HOAs and their Boards are legally required to perform certain duties and are in turn governed by the Colorado Common Interest Ownership Act (CCIOA) (PDF).

HOA Governance Documents

APCHA has copies of governance documents on file for most of the HOAs overseeing APCHA units. However, homeowners should verify with their HOAs that the governance documents provided by APCHA are the most current versions.
